SBG News
On Saturday 11th February 2023, under the chairmanship of Mr. Karamoko Soumah, General Inspector of the Ministry of Mines and Geology in Guinea, SBG performed the loading of the first barge of bauxite for export at the port of Konta in the prefecture of FORECARIAH. The barges are subsequently transshiped onto a capesize vessel for export to China with a shipment in excess of 160,000 tonnes.
Civil and military authorities of the Kindia region, local communities, national and foreign technical and financial partners, were also present to take part in the event. SBG, whose mine is located in Linsan in the prefecture of Kindia, with the capacity of 8,000,000 tonnes per year.

Bauxite, as the raw material forming the basis for Alumina and subsequently Aluminium, is a key ingredient for multiple industries and crucial to the development of the modern world. SBG bauxite is of a high quality.
Mining Operations
DSO material is mined from open pits using surface miners. The estimate production of approx. bauxite is of 8 million tonnes per year.
Trucking
The bauxite is then transported through a newly constructed 190 km dedicated haulage road connecting SBG mine with Port of Konta.
Port Operations
Ore is stockpiled and loaded onto barges. The new Port of Konta has a load rate capacity of 1000 metric tonnes per hour and the ability to load 10,000 metric tonnes per barge.
Transshipment
Transshipment handled via barges and transshipment vessel (TSV). Operational capacity: 20,000 tonnes per day.
Inauguration Event
Successful Launch
Civil and military authorities of the Kindia region, local communities, national and foreign technical and financial partners were present to take part in the ceremony for the official inaugural launch of SBG export operations. The mine is located in Linsan in the prefecture of Kindia, with the capacity of 8,000,000 tonnes per year.
This event marks a key milestone for both SBG and its holding company, Metalcorp Group. Since 2018, Metalcorp Group has made significant investments in bauxite mines in the Republic of Guinea with resources exceeding 600 million metric tonnes.
